4 TexasHealthMansfield.org Caring for women at all stages of life Meet Obstetrician-Gynecologist Marquita Anderson, MD For as long as she can remember, Marquita Anderson, MD, always wanted to be a doctor. With a passion for science and a desire to help people from an early age, she never wanted to do anything else. Today, Dr. Anderson serves as an OB-GYN, dedicated to supporting women through all stages of their lives. “I enjoy that as an OB-GYN, I can work with women through so many decades of their lives and that I get to form lasting relationships with them,” she says. Keeping women well One of the most common reasons women see Dr. Anderson is for their annual well-woman exams. These important visits focus on wellness and prevention, allowing Dr. Anderson to ensure her patients are up-to-date on Pap tests and other screenings. Addressing health problems Dr. Anderson is also there for women experiencing gynecologic issues. One of the many complex challenges she often helps treat is pelvic pain. “There are so many different causes of pelvic pain, and they’re not always gynecologic in origin,” Dr. Anderson says. “First, we focus on identifying or ruling out common causes, such as infections, pelvic masses, endometriosis or fibroids. Depending on what we find, that guides our management.” In many cases, medication is all that’s needed to alleviate pelvic pain. However, when necessary, Dr. Anderson is skilled in performing minimally invasive procedures to provide further relief. Supporting women through pregnancy Obstetric care is another aspect of her role that Dr. Anderson loves and finds rewarding. She offers pregnancy support, managing both vaginal and cesarean births. “I love being there by the side of women, helping them have a healthy pregnancy and seeing their babies delivered safely,” she says. “There’s just so many beautiful moments that you get to enjoy.” Do you need an OB-GYN?
