Fall 2026 3 Who needs a PCP? You do You shouldn’t wait until you’re sick to establish care with a primary care provider (PCP). Everyone should do this by their mid-20s, or sooner if health problems run in their family, suggests Bobby Brite, FNP-BC. Among the benefits of getting connected with a PCP? “We can screen for health issues you may not feel or notice,” Bobby says. “Many conditions do not cause symptoms at first. High blood pressure is a good example. Most of the time, people don’t realize they have it until it’s measured.” Having a PCP means having a partner to help you maintain whole-person health through checkups, preventive services and treatment for common illnesses. “Find a primary care provider you feel comfortable with and develop a good relationship with that person,” Bobby says. “Then attend your regular follow-up appointments.” Find the right provider for you Visit TexasHealthMansfield.org/ Providers.
